Fury-Usyk a 'done deal' for December or January

On Friday morning big news broke on the internet as ESPN boxing reporter Mike Coppinger revealed that an undisputed heavyweight title fight between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk is now agreed to and will take place in Saudi Arabia. The highly anticipated clash does not have an official date, but December 23 or sometime in January is what Coppinger is reporting.

Fairly obviously, the date is pending what happens in Tyson Fury's attraction bout against novice boxer and former MMA champion, Francis Ngannou, who Fury fights on October 28th in Saudi Arabia.

If the December date is true that would put it 48 hours before Christmas. Fury, the 35-year-old WBC champion hailing from England, and Oleksandr Usyk, the 36-year-old WBA, IBF, and WBO boss from Ukraine, would fight for the historic feat of 'who is the best modern heavyweight?' The winner of this fight would be the undisputed champion and the lineal champion. Originally slated for a match at Wembley in April, plans were delayed and now appear to be back on course.

The big thing now is - let's simply just get to the fight. Very little news is known beyond what Coppinger posted on social media, but as ProBox TV News has documented in detail, the heavyweight division has stalled as Fury and Usyk have not fought against each other causing a wave of inactivity in a trickle-down effect.
